Growing up in a back-to-the-land inspired household in rural Maine, Grayson developed the ability to observe and respond to the natural world. He continues to operate with the belief that those are crucial skills. In addition to solving an immediate problem, architecture must take into account how it affects the natural, historical and cultural contexts it is born of and exists within. Grayson is inspired by the anomalous and sometimes unsettling moments that highlight this relationship and the people who have crafted them. Grayson received a Bachelor of Architecture from the California College of the Arts in 2008 with honors, including the Henry J. Adams merit award. He began Holden Architecture in 2017, after 8 years as a project designer at envelopeA+D leading residential and commercial projects of various scales.
